September 17th 2017 - NIGEL WEARNE

Cheese platters, wine, beer, cider, coffee, cake

Cabaret Style - Limited Seating - Bookings Recommended

With personally handcrafted guitars, Nigel Wearne melds finger-style guitar, clawhammer banjo, folk and honest storytelling. Gleaning influence from Kelly Joe Phelps, Townes Van Zandt and Sun Kil Moon, he tells stories of forgotten rebels, mischievous bank robbers, wandering poets and his love of eggs.

A storyteller at heart, Nigel paints lyrical pictures with frayed poetic edges and honest grit. “One of Australia's emerging songwriters” (Tone Deaf) with “A delicate heart and crisp guitar" (The AU Review). "Warmth flecked with grit... beauty awaits" 4 Stars – Rolling Stone Australia

Kristina Olsen is one of the most entertaining and compelling performers on the international folk circuit. A superb multi-instrumentalist (acoustic guitar, steel-body slide guitar, saxophone, concertina and piano) as well as an award-winning songwriter with a big raw velvet voice, and now a book author, Kristina has audiences around the world coming back for more. Her mix of powerful songs ranging from sassy bottleneck blues to lilting ballads to swing jazz to raunch and roll (as well as her hilarious storytelling) makes for a diverse and satisfying musical experience, on stage and on disc.

The Reverend and Mrs Rowdy bring succour and honkytonk redemption to tired sinners, reviving flagging spirits, and spreading a swingin’ gospel of community, localism and drinkin’ dancin’ good-times.

The Rowdies have quickly established themselves as favourites at music festivals such as the Melrose Music Muster as well as in the Adelaide pub scene. The Rowdies launched their first CD last year at the Wheaty to a sold-out crowd of appreciative sinners. Needless to say, all present were redeemed and much spirit was consumed…

Revolution-flavoured Americana, preaching the gospel according to Hank, Patsy & the Sex Pistols. Drink up and holler Hallelujah! brothers and sisters!

Jem Phillips aka Rev Rowdy - electric guitar, voice
Trisha Drioli aka Mrs Rowdy - standup bass, voice
Isabella Drioli-Phillips aka Sister Belle - voice, cajon, ukelele
Nick Challans aka Brother Nick - acoustic guitar
Nick Atherton aka Old Nick (2nd photo) - electric and slide guitar, voice

The Cherry Pickers’ unique take on Bluegrass has been winning over audiences for over a decade. Whether it’s Ralph Stanley or Paul Stanley, every song gets that “Cherry Pickers sound”. Their tasty arrangements are reverent to the Bluegrass tradition as well as to the original songs, such that they defy any hillbilly stigma. The Cherry Pickers appear regularly around Adelaide and have played and many festivals around the country including the National Bluegrass Festival, Mountain Grass, the Kelly Country Pick, JamGrass , the Fleurieu Folk Festival, Healesville Festival and the Wirinna Bluegrass Festival.
