Serendipity - EP Launch
Tickets $15

Serendipity are a duo made up of Kacey Stephensen and Emily Schoof. As solo artists they were performing for years (both since the age of 8) before meeting at the Fleurieu Folk Festival in 2012. Kacey and Emily now have many performances to add to their portfolio as Serendipity and are starting to gain recognition nationally for their talents.

The duo recently represented S.A. in the Youth Showcase at the National Folk Festival in Canberra 2014. Here they were then selected as one of the top three acts to receive funding and support from the FAA (Folk Alliance of Australia). They were also awarded the nationally recognised Lis Johnston memorial award for vocal excellence whilst at the National Festival.

They are a talented and engaging young duo who are emerging as a ‘breath of fresh air’ on the folk music scene. They demonstrate a knack of being able to instantly endear themselves to an audience with a youthful exuberance, passionate playing and a fresh and sometimes quirky approach to the music. They write songs that tug at every emotion, with delightful guitar/mandolin arrangements and goosebump raising harmonies. These two young singer/songwriters are rapidly gaining recognition and appreciation in the folk music scene... and beyond.

Depression The Musical

Depression The Musical is not about entertainment, comedy or passing the time...

This show is more than simply sharing the stories of those effected by depression, its about bridging the gap of understanding and empathy for those that have never experienced what it's like to be followed by the "Black Dog". The tour is designed to spread these messages and encourage people to move past the discomfort that comes with discussing depression and other mental health issues.

Depression the musical was a concept that came together after three years of gestation in the brain of Phi Theodoros, the trigger to take the show from idea to reality was unfortunately hearing of a 22 year old previous lover taking their life.

The show has been designed to help audiences understand and empathize with real experiences of depression amongst common themes of, self worth, loneliness, taking medication, being the person left behind after suicide, finding a creative release to deal with depression and finding hope and connection. The show was first performed in June 2013 as part of the Cabaret Fringe festival with a combination of rhythmic monologues to original compositions of music that were inspired by interviews with members of the Community Arts Network (CAN SA) and around Adelaide. Each monologue follows a true story found from these interviews and then is coupled to a popular cover song to help drive the message and emotion of the monologue home. The show is a voyage that explores some difficult themes to help share other people’s experiences with the wider public.

The Heggarties
Tickets $15

Born in 2009 out of the black, volcanic soil, under the green wallaby grass, among the haunting hues of the grey box forest of the Adelaide Hills, The Heggarties began life as a simple vehicle (a HQ Holden, let's say), for getting around playing the songs by their most revered and adored artists : Lucinda Williams, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan, The Decemberists and The Steeldrivers to name a few. It was an eclectic mix of ballads, toe tappers and a few things inbetween; mostly American in origin, but also with a measure of saltwater covered, celtic folk spirit.

Fast forward five years and The Heggarties today are a solid five piece alt country and roots outfit (a mint '55 Chevy convertible, let's say) comprising a posse of creative and talented troubadours who write and regularly perform their own songs within and around Adelaide.Influenced by the great artists and the timeless atmosphere of the Hills, they've managed to uncover their own unique and compelling voice, awash in harmony, blessed with the stunning country vocals of Wren Heggart, the bourbandrenched vocal snarls and rumsoaked blues harp of Paul Heggart, the evocative and masterful brushstrokes of Steve Lennox on mandolin, ukulele, cigar box guitar, and slide guitar, and driven with a deep and gutsy feel by the powerful rhythm section of Tim Bodman on bass and Max Tulysewski on drums.

Their debut EP 'Incidentally, The Heggarties' is currently being recorded by Kim Lumomski at Spareroom Studios (Emma Luker, Soursob Bob and The Beards) and is due for release in August 2014.
